11-06-2016 Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve

A couple of hours with the camera on a Saturday afternoon. A fellow visitor told me he had spotted a couple of deer, I didn't have such luck...

There wasn't many birds at the feeding station this time, as all the feeders looked to be empty. It didn't stop the resident Grey Squirrels from looking for any remnants.

There were four of them at one point.

A Dunnock was rummaging for scraps

A Chaffinch popped down to see if there was anything worth nibbling on

I only spotted a female Mallard on the lagoon, but there are Moorhens there too apparently

The bees were busy collecting nectar

A few guys were fishing, don't know if they caught anything

Foxgloves still look great when they bloom

This swamp looked like something out of Star Wars - The Dagobah system where Luke Skywalker trains with Yoda

Judging by the debris collected on the bridge, the river got to some serious height in the recent floods

Repair work going on to collapsed towpath and bridge, Just goes to show the force of Mother Nature.

Still a great place to visit and I know I'll be back again soon

Good Friday visit to RSPB Bempton Cliffs

RSPB Reserve - Bempton Cliffs 25/03/2016

A lovely sunny Good Friday, so a trip to the east coast to see somewhere I've always wanted to visit. Although, going on the first day of the Easter break was not really a good idea traffic wise!! :(

A Jackdaw foraging on the cliff edge

Fantastic views of the cliff faces

Gannets finding partners and nesting sights

As well as Kittiwakes doing the same

Spectacular viewing points to get close and really good views of the sea birds

A pair of Gannets doing the mating ritual was very nice to watch

Lovely birds, extremely photogenic in my opinion

Sadly, I didn't get to see any Puffins. I was told they were being a bit elusive as it is a bit early for them but did manage to spot a few Razorbills and Guillemots, but at a distance.

I will be back to visit during the height of the visiting season.

For anyone who has not been to Bempton Cliffs, I'd highly recommend it. The White Horse Pub also do excellent, reasonably priced pub  food.
